Alpha Ori Space Station
The Alpha Ori Space Station was designed to for use on scientific research in space and as a place to rest for interstellar travelers. The dimensions of the space station are 1000 units long and 500 units wide. The simulation presents a 3d virtual reality representation of the bare schematics of the station. The main areas of the station are engineering, command, medical, security, 2 shuttle bays, 2 indoor parks (one based off the earth game Mario and the other a simple park that is good for picnics), a dinning hall, a large spectral viewing room, and over 100 beds in dorm style rooms for travelers –and workers- to stay in. The simulation presented of the space station is not perfectly to scale and was designed for the best visual representation of the station. The minimum system requirements to view the simulation are a 2.8GHz processor, a good graphics card, and a vrml 2.0 compatible browser with the vrml plug-in. The hardware used in this project was the Glove which was used for navigation
If you cannot view the vrml simulation of the station take the picture tour. The picture tour is composed of images that highlight the different sections of the station and allow you to view the station without vrml. Also included on the photo tour is infomation on how this project was made and the developement process of the Alpha Ori Simulation. Afterall they say a picture is worth a thousand words for a reason
