HPC Platform Specifications
Platform Description
Enterprise 10000
Both of our Enterprise 10000 systems are identically configured as far as hardware goes, however each machine is used for different purposes. One system is split up in to separate domains which are used by separate groups within the university. The other is configured to be one large 64 processor domain which batch jobs are submitted to from all groups. Both machines consist of 64 400MHZ CPUs with 32GB of RAM. A large amount of disk is attached to each machine for storage of large data sets, mpi programs and various other user files.
SunFire 12000
The SunFire 12000 system is a 36 processor machine. Each CPU is running at 900MHZ. The machine has 108GB of RAM and over 500GB of disk storage locally available to it. The SF12K is where MPI jobs are submitted to.
SunFire V880
The SunFire V880 is a machine with 4 750MHZ CPUs and 8GB of RAM. This machine is configured as a time sharing machine. Users will login to this machine to compile and test programs and then submit the jobs to the SunFire 12000.
SOFTWARE
All machines within the HPC facility are running the Solaris Operating System. A variety of third party tools as well as other commercial products are installed on each machine for compiling, testing and tuning of programs.
