FrescoHow to get FrescoVFX for Win95/NT 3.5

To bring over the pre-built Win95/NT 3.5 version of FrescoVFX:

1. Bring over the file FrescoVFX-win.zip. This takes up about 26 MB when unzipped.

2. Unzip the binary distribution into a folder named FrescoVFX. (Rename the folder to FrescoVFX if unzip creates a folder with a different name.)

The FrescoVFX directory is now the root of the FrescoVFX binary distribution.

To run vfx and other programs:

1. Run the vfx program from the directory FrescoVFX\build\Win32. Start the program by typing lib\vfx. When you start it, the Menlo Park FASLAB "home page" appears. Navigate around the (live) pages as you would navigate around the web.

For now, vfx must be executed from the Win32 directory by invoking lib\vfx. This is because the explorer "content" uses path names relative to the Win32 directory. Sorry for this inconvenience.

The NT 3.5 version has not been tested fully and is currently a bit flakey. Sorry.

2. You can also try out the example programs by running examplesapp and fdraw. Both are found in the FrescoVFX\build\Win32\lib directory.

3. For info on running the collaborative examples, see these instructions.
