From Cloud Computing to Cloud Economics: There is an interesting article about "Cloud Economis: Microsoft, Google & Amazon", which provides a neat analysis on how the "amazon-like" margin may give an edge for competition.

There was a two-day Cell Broadband Engine (B.E.) programming workshop at Rutgers on September 17 and September 18. Cell BE was introduced from a programming point of view with many hands-on examples, such as SIMD, DMA. Some information about cell programming from similar workshop with online information can be found here.

It is exciting to learn the GPU architecture and the programming model.

An interesting course site about "programming massively parallel processors" from UIUC.

Intel software network blog about parallel programming.

GPU programming model cuda from nvidia.

I attended the WoWMoM 2008. The organization for this conference was great. The panel discussed "opportunities and impediments on the road to 4G". One of the challenges discussed was how to manage huge amount data with hundreds of (or thousands of) attributes from mobile wireless network, which is related to my work on Correlating Real-time Monitoring Data for Mobile Network Management.

I was just back from IPDPS 2008. People are enthusiastic about the new programming models for large scale multi-core system. One of the keynotes discussed Programming Models for Petascale to Exascale. Some relevant work to this keynote can be found from here. The education path of parallel computing/processing is also discussed. Participants asked the questions about "how does multi-core influence the eduation of parallel computing and concurrency?", "How can we apply multi-core design for smart phones?", etc. An interesting blog to discuss some views from IPDPS 2008 can be found here.
